Miami, FL – South Florida is set for another sunny and warm weekend, with temperatures reaching into the low 80s. While the skies will remain mostly clear, beachgoers are urged to stay vigilant due to a high risk of rip currents along the Atlantic coastline.

According to the National Weather Service, conditions from Saturday through Sunday will include elevated surf and powerful rip currents that could pose life-threatening risks to swimmers caught off-guard. High temperatures across the East Metro will range from 80°F to 82°F on Saturday, with slightly warmer highs on Sunday, ranging from 82°F to 84°F.

The rip current threat is especially strong along South Florida’s east coast, from Palm Beach to the Florida Keys, as high surf and strong tides continue to churn the waters. Beachgoers should heed warnings from lifeguards and avoid swimming outside of designated areas. Those planning to take to the beach are advised to swim only near a lifeguard and to stay in areas where rescue assistance is available.

Safety precautions include paying close attention to posted flags and lifeguard advice, as rip currents are one of the leading causes of water-related incidents in the area. With a high-risk warning in place, more updates could follow if conditions worsen over the weekend.

Stay safe, stay alert, and keep an eye on local advisories throughout the weekend.
