Miami, FL — Warm, quiet weather is setting the tone for the weekend before Christmas across the Miami area and much of South Florida, with temperatures climbing well above seasonal averages and only minimal rain chances.

According to the National Weather Service in Miami, conditions today, Saturday, December 20, will remain mostly dry, with only a low chance (less than 20 percent) of isolated showers along the east coast of South Florida. Most locations, including Miami-Dade and Broward counties, are expected to stay rain-free.

Afternoon high temperatures across the Miami metro area are forecast to reach the low to mid-80s, including around 81 degrees in Miami, near 80 in Fort Lauderdale, and upper 70s to low 80s along the immediate coast. These readings are above average for late December, contributing to a summerlike feel as the holiday approaches.

While weather conditions will be favorable for outdoor plans, beachgoers are urged to use caution. The National Weather Service reports a moderate risk of rip currents continuing today for all Palm Beach County beaches. Even experienced swimmers are advised to stay near lifeguards and avoid entering the water alone, as rip currents can be difficult to spot.

Winds are expected to remain light to moderate, helping maintain calm conditions inland while contributing to lingering marine hazards along the Atlantic coast. Overnight temperatures will remain mild, with lows generally staying in the upper 60s to low 70s.

Looking ahead, forecasters say the warm and generally quiet pattern is likely to persist into the early part of Christmas week, keeping winter weather far from South Florida. No significant cold fronts or storm systems are expected in the immediate forecast.
