MIAMI, Fla. – The National Weather Service in Miami has issued a Cold Weather Advisory for parts of interior South Florida, as an unusually cold air mass sweeps through the region late Monday night into early Tuesday morning.
The advisory covers Glades, Hendry, Inland Collier, and Inland Palm Beach Counties—including Immokalee, Moore Haven, Clewiston, and Belle Glade—from 4 a.m. to 9 a.m. EST Tuesday.
During this period, wind chill values could fall to near 31°F, especially in rural and open areas where winds remain steady. While actual air temperatures are expected to stay just above freezing, the combination of cold air and light winds could make it feel much colder, posing risks for anyone outdoors without adequate protection.
The weather service advises residents to bundle up, bring pets indoors, and check on elderly neighbors. Portable heaters should be used safely—keep them three feet from anything flammable, and never use generators or grills indoors due to carbon monoxide dangers.
The cold will be short-lived: temperatures are expected to rebound into the upper 60s and 70s by Tuesday afternoon, with gradual warming continuing through midweek.
