Miami, Florida – Urban flooding could become a serious hazard across South Florida starting Saturday, as multiple rounds of heavy rain threaten the region through Labor Day Weekend.

According to the National Weather Service in Miami, a widespread 1 to 4 inches of rainfall is expected through early Tuesday, with isolated pockets potentially seeing more than 10 inches. Afternoon storms are most likely, but rain may begin earlier in the day and persist into the evening, increasing the risk of flash flooding—especially in low-lying urban zones.

Cities including Miami, Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, and Naples are all in the high-impact zone. Flood-prone areas like Hialeah and Pembroke Pines should prepare for rapidly rising water levels during peak downpours. Emergency managers warn that street flooding, road closures, and drainage backups are likely, particularly during periods of high tide.

Localized “rainfall bullseyes” may create unpredictable impacts—some neighborhoods may remain relatively dry, while others just miles away could experience intense flash flooding. Officials advise residents to avoid non-essential travel during heavy rain, monitor local alerts, and avoid walking or driving through flooded streets.

Rain and storm chances continue through Monday, with more advisories possible as the system evolves.
