Miami, Fla. – A warmer-than-normal and wetter start to March is shaping up for South Florida, with repeated chances for rain from Sunday, March 1, through Thursday, March 5.

According to NOAA’s 6-10 day outlook issued Monday, South Florida is favored to see above-normal temperatures during the March 1-5 stretch, along with above-normal precipitation. That setup supports multiple rounds of showers, particularly as Gulf and Atlantic moisture feeds into passing disturbances.

In the Miami metro area, including Miami Beach, Hialeah and Pembroke Pines, periods of rain could lead to slick roadways and ponding on low-lying streets, especially during heavier bursts. Commuters along Interstate 95 and the Dolphin Expressway should remain alert for reduced visibility during downpours.

Farther north, including Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach, passing showers are also likely at times. While widespread flooding is not anticipated at this range, localized drainage issues may develop if rainfall becomes persistent.

Across southwest Florida, including Naples and Marco Island, rain chances will increase as moisture pushes inland. With temperatures trending above normal, all precipitation will remain liquid, and no wintry weather is expected despite the broader “rain/snow chance” headline format.

Residents should monitor local forecasts and allow extra travel time during heavier showers. Additional refinements are expected later this week as the March 1-5 window approaches and system timing becomes clearer.
