Miami, FL – Coastal communities across South Florida are facing minor to moderate flooding this weekend as king tides peak along the region’s shoreline, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Miami. The advisory remains in effect through Monday evening.
According to NWS forecasters, a Coastal Flood Advisory has been issued for the east coast from Miami-Dade to Palm Beach County, where tides are expected to rise around two feet above normal. A Coastal Flood Statement is also in effect along portions of the southwest coast near Naples and Everglades City for minor flooding concerns.
Each high tide cycle through Monday evening may bring beach erosion, coastal inundation, and hazardous surf conditions. Meteorologists also warn of a high risk of rip currents, particularly along Atlantic beaches.
Meanwhile, scattered showers and storms are expected across South Florida on Sunday, with temperatures in the upper 80s to lower 90s. The heaviest rainfall and gusty winds are possible in coastal and metro areas during the afternoon and early evening.
Residents are urged to avoid driving through flooded streets, monitor tide forecasts, and use caution near coastal areas. Conditions are expected to gradually improve after Monday as tides subside.
