Miami, Fla. – Heavy rain and thunderstorms are set to disrupt South Florida beginning Thursday morning, with the National Weather Service warning that some storms could drop up to 2 inches of rain and cause localized flooding. Drivers across Miami-Dade should plan for wet, slow commutes and possible ponding on roads.

According to the National Weather Service in Miami, rain chances surge to 80% Thursday with storms carrying the threat of heavy downpours. Northeast winds of 10 to 13 mph could combine with frequent lightning to create hazardous conditions both on the roads and along coastal waters. Storms may persist into Thursday night before tapering off toward morning.

Friday will bring a temporary break, but scattered storms remain likely by the afternoon, especially inland. Rain chances stay near 60%, with highs around 86 degrees. Saturday offers little relief as another round of thunderstorms pushes through by midday, again with a 40–50% chance of rain.

Residents are urged to avoid driving through flooded streets, secure loose outdoor items, and keep mobile devices charged in case of outages. Showers are expected to continue each day through early next week, with conditions staying humid and storm-prone.

Warnings remain in effect, with more advisories possible as rainfall totals rise.
