Miami, Fla. – Heavy afternoon storms could bring street flooding and travel disruptions across South Florida Wednesday as a stalled front feeds tropical moisture into the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Miami, the most likely scenario calls for 1 to 2 inches of rainfall between 2 p.m. and 8 p.m., with a 10% chance of higher isolated totals exceeding 3 inches. The Weather Prediction Center has placed the region under a Marginal Risk for excessive rainfall, warning that localized flooding is possible along the East Coast metro and south of Alligator Alley.

Cities most at risk include Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Boca Raton, and West Palm Beach, where afternoon commutes could be slowed by water-covered streets and gusty winds. Drivers are urged to avoid flooded intersections, and officials caution against attempting to drive through standing water.

Rain chances taper late Wednesday evening, though unsettled conditions could return later in the week if the front stalls offshore. Additional advisories may be issued depending on rainfall totals.
