Miami, Florida – Isolated heavy rain could drench parts of South Florida through early evening Wednesday, raising the risk of localized flooding across metro areas from West Palm Beach to Miami.

According to the National Weather Service in Miami, rainfall totals of 0.5 to 1 inch are likely today, with the heaviest showers developing late this morning into the afternoon. An 88% chance of rain is forecast for West Palm Beach, with 85% in Fort Lauderdale and 78% in Miami.

Flooding concerns will be greatest along the east coast corridor where slow-moving thunderstorms could drop 2 to 4 inches in isolated pockets. Streets prone to poor drainage may briefly flood, especially during high tide hours.

High temperatures in the upper 80s to low 90s will add to the discomfort, with cities like Immokalee and Palmdale reaching 90°F. Residents are urged to avoid driving through flooded roads and to monitor updates from local emergency managers.

Rain chances taper by evening, but another round of storms may return later this week.
