Miami, Fla. – South Florida will see another steamy, mostly sunny day Sunday with afternoon storms developing across the interior and southwest part of the state. Highs will climb into the low 90s, keeping heat and humidity levels uncomfortable for much of the region.

According to the National Weather Service in Miami, scattered thunderstorms are expected to pop up from mid-afternoon through early evening, with the greatest chances stretching from the Everglades into Southwest Florida. Most of the metro corridor from Miami to West Palm Beach should remain largely dry, though a few storms could drift eastward late in the day.

Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and West Palm Beach are each forecast to reach 92 degrees Sunday afternoon, while Naples tops the list at 93. With high humidity, heat index values could feel several degrees hotter. Drivers along Alligator Alley and U.S. 41 may encounter reduced visibility in heavy downpours, and brief lightning strikes could cause delays.

Beachgoers should watch for sudden storm development and leave the water quickly if skies darken. Outdoor plans are best scheduled for the morning and midday hours.

Scattered storm chances remain in place through the early week, with hotter, drier conditions expected by midweek.
