Rapid City, SD – A Wind Advisory has been issued for several counties in South Dakota as strong northwest winds are expected to blow through the region on Wednesday, April 9. The advisory, issued by the National Weather Service, is in effect from 11 AM to 7 PM MDT.

According to the National Weather Service, wind speeds are expected to reach 25 to 35 mph, with gusts up to 50 mph. Affected areas include Harding, Northern Perkins, Butte, Northern Meade Co Plains, Southern Meade Co Plains, and Southern Perkins counties. Cities such as Belle Fourche, Faith, and Lemmon will experience the strongest gusts.

These high winds may cause dangerous driving conditions, especially for lightweight and high-profile vehicles. Sudden gusts could lead to a loss of control on the road, and residents are advised to exercise caution while driving. Additionally, blowing dust could reduce visibility, and debris may be blown across roads, further increasing the risk of accidents.

Travelers are urged to stay alert and follow all safety recommendations. For the latest updates, check local weather reports before venturing out.
