Sioux Falls, SD – A winter storm is expected to bring snow and icy conditions to South Dakota from Friday night through Saturday. Areas along and north of I-29 will see the highest snowfall, potentially making travel hazardous.

According to the National Weather Service, snow is likely to begin late Friday, with the heaviest accumulation overnight into Saturday. Winds could cause blowing snow, reducing visibility on major roadways. Temperatures will drop into the low 20s, increasing the risk of icy conditions.

Thursday will bring a brief warm-up with highs near 35°F before temperatures drop again Friday. Saturday’s high will be near 25°F, with lingering snow showers in the morning. Sunday will see clearer skies but frigid temperatures, with a low around 2°F.

Drivers should prepare for changing conditions, check road updates before traveling, and carry emergency kits. Stay tuned for updates as the storm approaches.
