Sioux Falls, SD – A warming trend is on the way for South Dakota, bringing sunnier skies and highs near the 40s by early next week. Residents should prepare for breezy conditions Saturday, especially near I-90, as winds could gust up to 30 mph.
According to the National Weather Service, today will remain mostly cloudy with highs near 35 degrees and winds reaching 15 mph. Tonight’s low will drop to 19 degrees before a mostly sunny Saturday ushers in northwest winds between 10-20 mph. Blustery conditions will make Saturday feel cooler, with a high of 29 degrees.
By Sunday, sunny skies will dominate, and temperatures will climb to a high of 34 degrees. Winds will diminish slightly, but gusts may still reach 25 mph in some areas. Monday and Tuesday will offer even milder weather, with highs in the mid-40s under mostly sunny skies, marking a significant warm-up for the region.
Motorists along I-90 are advised to watch for wind gusts Saturday, particularly in open areas. Travelers should also remain cautious during the early morning hours, as any residual moisture could refreeze overnight, creating slick spots.
Looking further ahead, the dry weather pattern is expected to persist into midweek, with highs staying in the 30s and 40s. Residents are encouraged to take advantage of the warmer conditions after a chilly start to January.
