Sioux Falls, SD – After a stretch of dry, sunny weather, Sioux Falls residents should prepare for a potential shift midweek as rain chances return Wednesday afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service, a 30% chance of rain is expected to develop after 1 p.m. Wednesday, following several days of clear skies and gradually warming temperatures across eastern South Dakota. Daytime highs are forecast to reach 65°F on Wednesday, well above seasonal averages, with partly cloudy conditions expected into the evening.

Today and through Tuesday, the region will enjoy sunny skies with highs ranging from 44°F on Monday to 57°F on Tuesday. Overnight lows will dip into the 20s and 30s, with mostly clear nights providing calm conditions for travel and outdoor activities.

Winds will generally remain light, with gusts up to 20 mph possible today. North-northwest breezes will shift eastward by late Monday, signaling the approach of Wednesday’s weather system.

Drivers and pedestrians should remain alert to changing conditions midweek. While rainfall totals are expected to be light, localized slick roads may occur during the initial showers. It’s advisable to check updated forecasts and prepare accordingly for possible interruptions to outdoor plans by Wednesday afternoon.

The chance of rain drops to 20% Wednesday night, followed by another warming trend into Thursday and Friday.
