Sioux Falls, SD – Residents across eastern South Dakota should prepare for unsettled weather through Tuesday, as a series of storm systems increases the chance of showers and thunderstorms to start the week.

According to the US National Weather Service in Sioux Falls, an “active pattern aloft” will promote rain and storm chances Sunday through Tuesday, with highs ranging from the low 70s to upper 70s. Winds from the east and south are expected to support storm development during this stretch.

The forecast shows Sunday highs reaching 72 to 80 degrees, with rain chances continuing into Monday and Tuesday. Early Tuesday morning could bring stronger showers before conditions gradually begin to shift.

By midweek, a drier weather pattern is expected to take hold. Sunshine returns Wednesday and Thursday, with temperatures holding steady in the mid-70s, creating more comfortable outdoor conditions.

The National Weather Service emphasized that the pattern shift midweek will bring “a prolonged stretch of quieter conditions,” a welcome change for those planning outdoor activities or travel later in the week.

Residents are advised to monitor local forecasts for updates on potential storm activity, especially through Tuesday morning, when heavier rainfall could impact commutes.
