Sioux Falls, SD – Light snow and gusty winds are expected to sweep across South Dakota today, potentially creating slick road conditions, particularly along I-90. Residents are urged to use caution while driving, as visibility may drop during heavier snow bursts.

According to the National Weather Service in Sioux Falls, snowfall accumulations will be minimal—less than an inch—but freezing temperatures and 25 mph wind gusts could create hazardous conditions. Highs today will hover near 31 degrees, with conditions turning partly cloudy by the evening as temperatures drop to around 2 degrees.

Thursday will bring a brief reprieve with sunny skies, though high temperatures will only reach 18 degrees. Calm winds will offer some relief, but overnight lows could plummet near zero. By Friday, mostly cloudy skies return with a milder high of 33 degrees, as south winds pick up to 20 mph.

Looking to the weekend, Saturday offers partly sunny conditions with highs near 29 degrees, while Sunday is forecasted to be sunny and slightly warmer at 30 degrees. Overnight lows throughout the weekend will remain frigid, dipping to single digits on Saturday night.

Residents are encouraged to prepare for changing conditions, particularly those traveling during early morning hours. Drivers should monitor updates from the National Weather Service and keep emergency supplies on hand.
