According to the National Weather Service in Sioux Falls, strong to severe thunderstorms are expected to redevelop after 2 p.m. Tuesday. The greatest threats include damaging winds exceeding 70 mph and large hail, especially along and east of I-29. Locally heavy rainfall may reduce visibility during the afternoon commute.

Storms will follow a stretch of sweltering heat, with temperatures near 92°F and heat index values climbing to 107°F by mid-afternoon. Residents are urged to limit outdoor exposure, stay hydrated, and avoid travel during storm activity. Spotter activation may be required by late afternoon.
