South Dakota Stormy Week Expected to Linger into Fourth of July: Rain and Thunderstorms Ahead

Sioux Falls, SD – South Dakota is set to experience a stormy week, with weather conditions expected to impact Fourth of July celebrations. Light rain showers are possible south of I-90 today, with cooler temperatures in the 70s. According to the National Weather Service in Sioux Falls, multiple chances for showers and storms will return throughout the work week, with some potentially strong to severe storms expected Monday evening.

Monday will see a high of 68-78°F with a 70% chance of rain overnight. Showers are expected to continue into Tuesday, with temperatures ranging from 76-85°F. Rain will persist east of I-29, with a 60% chance of precipitation. By Wednesday, conditions will slightly improve, with a mix of sun and clouds and highs between 79-87°F. However, rain is anticipated to return overnight, with a 50% chance of showers.

Thursday’s forecast predicts a high of 74-83°F, with a 60% chance of rain, particularly in the evening. As the holiday weekend approaches, Friday is expected to be partly cloudy with temperatures ranging from 57-74°F.
