Sioux Falls, SD – South Dakota is set to experience intense heat and humidity through early next week, with heat index values potentially approaching 100 degrees. According to the National Weather Service in Sioux Falls, the region will face periodically breezy conditions alongside the high temperatures.
Heat index values are expected to climb close to 100 degrees, particularly from Saturday through Tuesday. Rain and storm chances will return tonight west of I-29, bringing more widespread shower and storm activity Sunday and Sunday night. A few storms may become strong to severe, with the potential for damaging winds and large hail.
According to forecasts, Saturday will see temperatures ranging from 86-93 degrees. Storms are likely west of I-29, with nighttime lows between 69-72 degrees. Sunday’s high is predicted to reach 84-92 degrees, with storm chances primarily west of US Highway 75 and nighttime lows of 66-71 degrees. Monday will continue the trend with highs between 85-91 degrees and storm potential east of James River by night.
By Tuesday, temperatures are expected to peak at 88-95 degrees with possible storms later in the day. Residents should remain weather aware, especially if they have outdoor plans, as heavy rainfall is also a possibility.
