Sioux Falls, SD – South Dakota residents are in for dangerously cold temperatures tonight as wind chills could drop as low as -35°F. A Cold Weather Advisory is in effect from 9 p.m. Wednesday until 9 a.m. Thursday, bringing life-threatening frostbite risks in just 10 minutes.
According to the National Weather Service, temperatures will plummet to -18°F overnight, with wind chill values reaching extreme lows. Residents should limit outdoor exposure, wear layers, and keep pets indoors.
Thursday will bring some relief with sunny skies and a high near 14°F, but wind chills will still hover around -18°F. By Friday, another round of snow is possible, especially near I-29 and I-90, with accumulations up to 3 inches.
Looking ahead to Valentine’s Weekend, temperatures remain frigid, with lows near -9°F Saturday and more snow chances Sunday. Additional snow showers could impact travel early next week.
