South Dakota Braces for Thunderstorms: Small Hail and Heavy Rainfall Expected

Sioux Falls, SD – South Dakota residents should prepare for thunderstorms today as a strong cluster of showers and thunderstorms has developed across portions of southcentral South Dakota. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Sioux Falls reported that while the activity is expected to stay sub-severe, small hail and pockets of heavy rainfall remain possible as the storms move southeast at 30 mph.

According to the NWS, these storms are anticipated to dissipate gradually as they progress southeastwards. Residents in the affected areas should be aware of potential hazards including small hail, frequent lightning, and heavy rainfall, which could lead to localized flooding.

Following today’s storms, the weather outlook for Sioux Falls appears more stable. The forecast shows clear skies with temperatures reaching 86°F today. The weekend will bring warmer conditions with highs of 93°F on Saturday and 94°F on Sunday under sunny skies.

Looking into next week, Monday will see a mix of sun and clouds with a high of 88°F. Temperatures will cool slightly by Tuesday, with partly cloudy skies and a high of 80°F, followed by a further drop to 76°F under partly cloudy skies on Wednesday.
