Sioux Falls, SD – South Dakotans should prepare for hazardous weather conditions as strong winds continue Thursday, followed by accumulating snow Friday night into Saturday. Gusts up to 45 mph are expected east of I-29 today, creating dangerous travel conditions.

According to the National Weather Service, a broad 1 to 5 inches of snow could fall from Friday evening through Saturday morning, with the heaviest accumulation along Highway 14. Winds will weaken slightly Friday but may increase again over the weekend.

Five-Day Forecast:

Friday: Cloudy with a slight chance of snow early, then snow increasing overnight. High 31°F.

Saturday: Snow likely before noon, tapering off in the afternoon. High 24°F. Winds could gust up to 20 mph.

Sunday: Mostly sunny with a high of 25°F.

Monday: A 30% chance of snow in the afternoon. High near 26°F.

Tuesday: Partly sunny with a high of 28°F.
