Sioux Falls, SD – South Dakota is set to experience a significant heatwave this Saturday, with temperatures expected to reach the mid-90s and potentially climb near the 100-degree mark in some areas. Residents are advised to take necessary precautions to stay cool and hydrated as the heat index soars.

According to the US National Weather Service in Sioux Falls, dry conditions combined with ample sunshine will drive temperatures up across the state. The forecast shows highs of 91°F in Sioux Falls, 92°F in Canby, and 93°F in Winner and Burke. Heat indices in some regions could exceed these temperatures, reaching up to 105°F in parts of the state.

The weather service emphasizes the importance of heat safety measures, especially for vulnerable populations such as the elderly and young children. Residents are encouraged to stay indoors during peak heat hours, drink plenty of water, and avoid strenuous outdoor activities.

Looking ahead, the heatwave is expected to continue into the weekend, with temperatures remaining in the 90s on Sunday before slightly cooling off to the high 80s by Monday. Despite the temporary relief, South Dakota will still experience above-average temperatures for early August.
