Texas starts the day wrapped in a heavy gray veil as dense fog settles across San Antonio and the I-35 corridor, softening headlights and leaving drivers with only a faint outline of the road ahead. Moist air clings low to the pavement, and visibility in several neighborhoods has already dropped close to a quarter mile.
According to the National Weather Service, a Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 9 a.m., with visibility varying sharply over short distances. Some pockets east of I-35 may see even thicker patches. Drivers should use low beams, reduce speed, and increase spacing. Expect the slowest travel on I-35, Loop 1604, and Highway 90 through mid-morning.
Meteorologists note that the fog should gradually lift into late morning as light winds turn southwest and temperatures climb into the low 70s. To be fair, the improving visibility comes with a steady warming trend that carries into Saturday and Sunday. Skies brighten Saturday with highs near the mid-70s, offering a window for holiday travel, outdoor shopping, or early-season decorating.
Sunday brings mostly sunny skies and highs in the lower 80s, although breezy southeast winds may develop by afternoon. For now, no winter-style hazards appear in the short term, though December humidity could rebuild fog pockets early next week.
Plan extra time for any morning travel today and be prepared for sudden visibility drops, especially east of downtown.
