San Antonio, Texas – A surge of July heat is set to blanket Central and South Texas, with dry skies and triple-digit temperatures building across Austin, San Antonio, and the Hill Country into next week.

According to the National Weather Service Austin/San Antonio, scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms will linger west of I-35 early Wednesday, but drier conditions will quickly take hold. Temperatures will climb into the upper 90s and low 100s by the weekend, with Austin reaching 97–99°F and San Antonio spiking to 100°F Saturday through Monday. Eagle Pass and Del Rio could see highs as hot as 102°F by Sunday.

The chance of rain will drop to near zero for most cities—including Georgetown, Kerrville, and New Braunfels—starting Thursday. Only Eagle Pass, Uvalde, and La Grange have a brief window for isolated showers Wednesday into Friday. For residents west of I-35, keep watch for locally heavy rainfall and a few thunderstorms through Wednesday afternoon before the dry spell returns.

Officials advise limiting outdoor activity during peak heat, staying hydrated, and checking on neighbors and pets. Expect roadways to heat up quickly and air conditioning demand to spike.

The hot, dry pattern holds through at least Tuesday, July 22, with no significant rain in sight. More advisories could follow if heat indices rise further.
