San Antonio, Texas – Triple-digit heat is gripping South-Central Texas this weekend, with temperatures hitting 101°F in Del Rio and 102°F in Eagle Pass as a prolonged heatwave builds across the region.
According to the National Weather Service in Austin/San Antonio, the dangerous heat will continue through early next week, with highs in the upper 90s to low 100s and only limited relief overnight. A Heat-Related Impacts advisory remains in effect for Monday, particularly for urban areas and vulnerable populations. Afternoon and evening thunderstorms are possible, especially over western counties like Uvalde and Val Verde, though rain chances are low.
Cities including Austin (97°F), San Antonio (98°F), and New Braunfels (99°F) are expected to stay well above average into midweek. Residents are urged to limit outdoor activity during peak hours, stay hydrated, and check on elderly neighbors. Power demand may spike, so conserving energy during peak usage times is encouraged.
A slight cooldown may arrive late next week, with highs dropping into the 80s and lower humidity returning by Thursday or Friday.
Heat advisories could be extended or reissued, and residents should stay alert for additional updates from the National Weather Service.
