San Antonio, Texas – Heavy showers and thunderstorms will sweep across South-Central Texas today, bringing the threat of localized flooding, power outages, and slowed travel on major roads. Drivers across San Antonio, Austin, the Hill Country, and the I-35 corridor should brace for pockets of heavy rain—potentially 1 to 3 inches—especially during the late afternoon and evening hours.

According to the National Weather Service, isolated to scattered storms are expected over the Rio Grande, northern Hill Country, I-35 corridor, and the coastal plains. The heaviest rainfall is likely during the evening, increasing the risk of flooded streets and poor visibility on highways like I-35, US 281, and I-10. Temperatures will remain high, with San Antonio forecast to reach 95°F, Del Rio and Eagle Pass near 98°F, and Austin topping out at 94°F.

Cities such as Kerrville, Uvalde, New Braunfels, and La Grange will see on-and-off showers, with thunderstorms possibly producing lightning and gusty winds. Residents should secure outdoor items, check local alerts, and avoid low-water crossings as runoff could rise quickly. Emergency managers advise charging devices in case of power disruptions and limiting non-essential travel during downpours.

Showers and storms may persist into early Monday before a much warmer, drier pattern returns by Tuesday. Additional advisories may be issued as conditions evolve.
