San Antonio, Texas – Rain-cooled air and scattered thunderstorms will bring temporary relief from the summer heat across western South Central Texas today, with isolated storms expected through early Wednesday evening.

According to the National Weather Service in Austin-San Antonio, the highest rain chances—up to 75%—are concentrated in areas west of I-35, including Rocksprings, Del Rio, and Uvalde. Storms may produce heavy rainfall and gusty winds, especially in the western Hill Country and along U.S. 277 and U.S. 90. Highs will top out in the mid 80s west but climb to the mid 90s in cities like Austin, La Grange, and Georgetown.

In San Antonio, expect a high near 89°F with a 50% chance of afternoon rain. Eastern cities including New Braunfels and Gonzales will stay mostly dry and hotter. Drivers should remain alert for sudden downpours and brief localized flooding west of I-35.

Although storms taper off overnight, rain chances linger for parts of the region through Friday before drier, hotter conditions return for the July 4 weekend. Temperatures are forecast to reach 98°F by Sunday across much of Central Texas.
