Austin, TX – South-central Texas is seeing a warm, partly cloudy Thursday with highs climbing into the upper 80s and lower 90s, but rain and cooler temperatures are on the horizon, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Austin–San Antonio.
Forecasters say the warmest areas will be along the Rio Grande Plains and Coastal Plains, where afternoon highs could reach up to 93°F. Most other regions, including the I-35 corridor and the Hill Country, will top out between 85–92°F under partly cloudy skies.
According to the NWS, the warm spell won’t last long. A weather system moving in from the west will bring increased rain chances late Friday and Saturday, followed by a noticeable cool-down. Daytime highs are expected to drop into the 70s by Sunday as drier, more stable air settles over the region.
The return of sunshine is expected to continue through the middle of next week, offering pleasant fall conditions after the wet end to the workweek.
Residents are encouraged to stay alert for updated forecasts and potential rainfall totals, especially for outdoor weekend plans.
