Austin, TX – Texas residents can expect a warm start to the week, with record highs near 86 degrees Monday. However, a significant cold front will bring temperatures down sharply by Tuesday night, just in time for New Year’s Eve celebrations.

According to the National Weather Service, Monday will see sunny skies and unseasonably high temperatures, particularly along Highway 77 and surrounding areas. By Tuesday evening, the cold front will usher in breezy conditions and highs dropping into the mid-60s, with overnight lows near 40 degrees. Wednesday and Thursday will remain cool, with highs only reaching the low 60s.

Residents planning outdoor New Year’s activities should prepare for chilly conditions, with temperatures expected to hover near 60 degrees during the day and drop to the low 40s at night. Winds will remain calm, but dressing in layers is recommended to stay comfortable.

This warm-to-cool shift will continue through Friday, with temperatures gradually climbing back to the mid-60s. Areas like San Antonio and La Grange will experience similar patterns, though highs Monday may peak slightly lower.

While no major weather hazards are expected, officials urge residents to stay informed about forecast updates. Stay tuned to local weather reports to ensure safe and enjoyable holiday celebrations.
