State College, Pennsylvania – Drivers across central Pennsylvania are facing slippery and hazardous road conditions as snow continues to fall across much of the region, with impacts stretching from the northern mountains into the Susquehanna Valley through the weekend.

According to the National Weather Service in State College, a Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 1 a.m. Sunday for northern and central counties including Warren, McKean, Potter, Elk, Cameron, Clearfield, and Cambria. Additional snowfall of 1 to 3 inches is expected, keeping roads slick, especially on bridges, overpasses, and untreated secondary routes near Warren, Bradford, Coudersport, DuBois, St. Marys, Clearfield, and Johnstown.

Farther south, a separate advisory is in effect from early Saturday morning through midday for Dauphin, Lancaster, Lebanon, Schuylkill, and York counties. Periods of snow, occasionally mixed with freezing rain or sleet, could leave up to 3 inches of accumulation with a light glaze of ice. The combination raises concerns for slick travel during the Saturday morning commute in Harrisburg, Lancaster, York, Pottsville, and Hershey.

PennDOT crews are treating primary routes, but officials urge drivers to slow down, increase following distance, and allow extra time to reach destinations. Snow showers are expected to taper later Saturday in the south, while lighter snow lingers across the northern counties into Saturday night.

While conditions should gradually improve by Sunday morning, slick spots may persist overnight. Additional advisories remain possible if snowfall lasts longer than expected.
