Cincinnati, OH – Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to continue across the region today through tonight, bringing the potential for heavy rainfall and isolated flooding, particularly near and southeast of the I-71 corridor.
According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, OH, repeated rounds of rain could drop an additional 1 to 2 inches in parts of southern Ohio and northeast Kentucky. The heaviest totals are likely to occur in areas stretching from Lexington, KY, into south-central Ohio.
Forecasters warn that the rainfall may cause localized flooding in low-lying or poorly drained areas. Drivers are urged to exercise caution on the roads, avoid flooded areas, and “turn around, don’t drown” if encountering high water.
The risk level has been designated as “Level 2 – Slight Risk” on the Excessive Rainfall Outlook scale. The National Weather Service advises residents to have multiple ways to receive weather alerts, seek higher ground if necessary, and stay weather-aware as storms move through the region into tonight.
Flood-prone areas along creeks, streams, and highways may see the greatest impacts during the evening commute and overnight hours.
