Hastings, Nebraska – A noticeable improvement in weather conditions is expected Sunday across south central Nebraska, following a breezy and cooler Saturday with limited snow chances.

According to the U.S. National Weather Service in Hastings, Saturday will be the less favorable day of the weekend, with high temperatures generally in the 30s and 40s. North to northwest winds are expected to be gusty at times, with gusts ranging from 25 to 35 mph, creating a blustery feel across the region.

Forecasters say scattered snow showers are possible Saturday, mainly north of Interstate 80. Any snowfall accumulation is expected to be minimal, but brief snow showers could reduce visibility at times, especially in open and rural areas. South of I-80, precipitation chances are lower, and most locations may remain dry.

By Sunday, conditions are expected to improve significantly. The National Weather Service reports that Sunday will be less windy, with southwest winds generally between 10 and 15 mph and gusts near 20 mph. Skies are expected to be mostly sunny across much of the area.

Temperatures on Sunday are forecast to rebound into the 40s and low 50s, making it the warmer and more comfortable day of the weekend. No snow is expected on Sunday, and travel conditions should be favorable compared to Saturday.

The agency noted that the calmer weather Sunday will provide a break from recent windy conditions, especially for outdoor activities and travel.

Residents are encouraged to plan outdoor work or travel for Sunday when possible, while remaining cautious Saturday due to gusty winds and isolated snow showers.

For commuters, students, and weekend travelers across south central Nebraska, Saturday may bring brief slowdowns, while Sunday offers improved conditions and milder temperatures.
