Hastings, Nebraska – Clouds, cooler air, and scattered rain will keep much of Nebraska damp through Tuesday, as off-and-on showers and a few thunderstorms continue to sweep across the region. Gusty winds up to 30 mph could further complicate travel during peak hours, especially in open areas of south central Nebraska.

According to the National Weather Service in Hastings, today’s highs will stall in the upper 50s to low 60s with occasional rain and a few non-severe thunderstorms. Monday brings more of the same, with winds increasing to 15–25 mph and gusts possibly reaching 30 mph. Conditions begin to ease Tuesday, though skies will remain mostly cloudy and rain chances gradually diminish.

Residents in Grand Island, Kearney, and Hastings should prepare for wet roads, reduced visibility during rain bursts, and strong wind gusts—especially on east-west routes like I-80. Light jackets and umbrellas are advised, and those working outdoors should secure loose items ahead of wind gusts.

Despite the dreary start, this cooler, unsettled stretch will give way to warmer, drier weather by the weekend, when highs may rebound toward the 80s. For now, periodic rain and cooler-than-average highs remain in the forecast through midweek.
