Pueblo, Colorado – South-central and southeast Colorado are in for their coolest day of the next week, but residents shouldn’t let their guard down as severe storms remain possible through Saturday evening.
According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, an upslope flow is ushering in cooler air with highs topping out in the 60s and 70s across mountain zones and low 80s in the plains. However, afternoon and evening thunderstorms are likely, especially near the higher terrain. A few storms may turn strong to severe, producing wind gusts up to 60 mph, hail up to 1.5 inches in diameter, and periods of heavy rainfall.
Communities including Pueblo, Trinidad, and La Junta could see impactful weather between 2 p.m. and 8 p.m., particularly near US Highway 50 and I-25. Drivers are urged to stay weather-aware and avoid travel during peak storm activity. Hikers and campers in the Wet Mountains and Sangre de Cristos should prepare for rapidly changing conditions.
Today’s storm threat is part of a broader unsettled pattern expected to linger into early next week. Another round of storms may return Sunday. Stay tuned to local alerts as conditions evolve.
