Greenville, SC – Residents in the Greenville-Spartanburg area are in for a dramatic weather shift this weekend, with temperatures forecasted to drop by more than 20 degrees between Saturday and Sunday. Saturday’s high is expected to reach a balmy 84 degrees, nearly 15 degrees above average, giving residents one last taste of warmth before a cold front arrives. By Sunday, high temperatures will only reach the 50s, with a noticeably cooler and brisk atmosphere settling over the area.

According to the National Weather Service, today’s heat will gradually give way to clouds and a slight chance of evening thunderstorms, especially after midnight. Rainfall accumulation is predicted to remain light, but residents should be prepared for scattered showers as the cold front approaches. Northbound traffic on I-85 and I-26 may experience slower driving conditions due to wet roads and gusty winds in some areas. The region will experience northeast winds of up to 25 mph on Sunday, adding to the chill.

The cooler air will continue into the start of next week, with Monday’s high only reaching 66 degrees and sunny skies prevailing. Residents can expect the chilly trend to last, with lows dropping to the low 50s each night through Tuesday, when temperatures are forecasted to reach 71 degrees under partly cloudy skies.

For those with outdoor plans this weekend, Saturday remains the best opportunity to enjoy the warmth. However, with this major temperature drop, layering up and being prepared for brisk winds is advised for Sunday and the days to follow.
