Greenville County, SC – A 62-year-old woman has been arrested following an animal cruelty investigation at Tallyho Kennels in Taylors, where authorities say more than 20 dogs were left behind and many died.
According to the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office, deputies began investigating the property on March 20, 2025, after the power company contacted the property owner about a potential shutoff. The owner discovered multiple deceased canines and notified Greenville County Animal Control.
Investigators obtained a search warrant and found the conditions to be unsanitary, with significant amounts of feces and a heavy flea infestation. Two additional dead dogs were located on-site, and evidence indicated numerous animals had been removed from the kennels before deputies arrived.
Sheriff’s officials said Sharon Anne Moody admitted during questioning that she previously housed at least 20 dogs at the property. Many were reportedly abandoned by their owners. Moody allegedly confessed to euthanizing eight smaller dogs with medication after being unable to place them in shelters, while others died from starvation.
Moody has been charged with four counts of ill-treatment of animals and one count of failure to bury a dead animal. She was booked into the Greenville County Detention Center and later released on an $8,500 bond, according to the Greenville County Magistrates’ Office.
The Sheriff’s Office emphasized its continued commitment to prosecuting animal cruelty cases and protecting the welfare of animals in Greenville County.
