Charleston, S.C. – After a string of warm, sunny days, rain and thunderstorms are expected to return to the Charleston area late Saturday, potentially disrupting weekend plans across the Lowcountry. Scattered showers and thunderstorms could linger through Sunday, with wet weather holding on until late Monday.

According to the National Weather Service in Charleston, highs will remain in the mid-80s to near 90 through Friday, with mostly sunny skies. Showers are likely to begin developing Saturday afternoon as cloud cover increases. Thunderstorm activity is expected to peak Sunday, with rainfall potentially heavy at times.

Charleston, North Charleston, Summerville, and surrounding areas could see brief street flooding and slower travel during storms. While no severe weather is forecasted at this time, gusty winds and lightning are possible during stronger cells.

Residents are advised to secure outdoor items, avoid flooded roads, and monitor local alerts if planning to travel over the weekend. Temperatures will begin to drop slightly into the upper 70s by Monday, though scattered rain may persist into the start of the week.

Another update is expected from the NWS Charleston office late Friday as the timing and intensity of the storms become clearer.
