Columbia, SC – South Carolina residents can expect a sunny but frosty weekend with significant changes on the horizon early next week. Morning lows will dip into the 20s, but Sunday’s high temperatures are expected to climb into the mid-50s. Rain is projected to move in Monday morning, making now the time to prepare for the week ahead.

According to the National Weather Service, Sunday will bring mostly sunny skies, with morning temperatures ranging from 25 to 29 degrees before warming to highs of 54 to 58. Winds will remain calm, providing a reprieve from the recent brisk conditions. However, the dry spell won’t last long. Rain chances increase to 30% by early Monday morning, with possible showers before 1 p.m. New rainfall totals are expected to stay below a tenth of an inch.

Looking ahead, the extended forecast shows a sunny day Tuesday, with highs near 63, offering another opportunity to enjoy outdoor activities before more unsettled weather moves in midweek. By Wednesday, a chance of showers returns with highs reaching 67. Cooler temperatures are expected to close the week, with highs around 52 on Friday.

For those planning outdoor activities, Sunday offers the best conditions. Drivers should be cautious Monday morning as rain could create slick spots on major roadways, including Interstate 20 and Interstate 26. Be sure to dress in layers this weekend to navigate the sharp morning-to-afternoon temperature swings.
