Greenville, S.C. – Brief but heavy downpours moved through parts of Upstate South Carolina, leaving behind localized pockets of measurable rainfall early Sunday.

According to the National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg, isolated thunderstorms produced rainfall totals generally under a half inch, with most locations seeing lighter amounts. The heaviest corridors stretched across portions of Greenville, Spartanburg, and Anderson counties, where quick bursts of rain developed late Saturday.

Cities including Greenville, Spartanburg, and Gaffney saw passing showers that temporarily reduced visibility and created slick road conditions, especially on I-85 and surrounding secondary roads. Despite the heavier bursts, rainfall was not widespread enough to cause flooding concerns.

Most areas outside of storm tracks recorded minimal precipitation, with many locations picking up only a few hundredths of an inch. The scattered nature of the storms kept impacts limited and short-lived.

Drier conditions are expected to return, but additional isolated showers remain possible in the coming days. Officials will continue monitoring for any stronger storm development as patterns shift.
