Columbia, S.C. – After days of storms and soggy weather, much of South Carolina is in for a welcome break Saturday as sunshine and warm breezes return across the Midlands and Central Savannah River Area.
According to the National Weather Service in Columbia, high temperatures will climb into the low to mid-80s across the region on May 31, with mostly sunny skies and significantly lower humidity. Cities like Orangeburg, Augusta, and Camden will peak around 84°F by mid-afternoon, while Columbia, Sumter, and Aiken are expected to top out at 83°F.
From Newberry to North Augusta, residents can expect calm, breezy conditions — a sharp contrast to the thunderstorms earlier this week. With dew points dropping and winds increasing slightly, outdoor events and yard work should be far more comfortable than recent days.
Drivers heading out early will see cool morning lows in the upper 50s to mid-60s, especially around Lancaster and Winnsboro. No major weather-related delays or advisories are in effect, but officials still encourage sun protection and hydration during peak afternoon hours.
The pleasant stretch continues through the weekend, with no significant weather disruptions expected until early next week.
