Greenville, S.C. – Scattered showers and thunderstorms will return across the Upstate and western Carolinas tonight, keeping conditions unsettled before a late-week warm-up. Cooler-than-normal highs today will give way to rising temperatures beginning Wednesday, peaking by Friday afternoon.
According to the National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg, storm chances are highest late this evening, with scattered activity stretching from northeast Georgia into the Carolinas. Periods of heavy rain and lightning could impact travel, especially along I-85 through Greenville, Spartanburg, and into Charlotte.
Temperatures will stay mild tonight, with highs only reaching the 70s in the mountains and lower 80s east of the Blue Ridge. However, a warming trend begins Wednesday and builds toward Friday, when highs are expected to push into the mid to upper 80s across much of the Piedmont.
Drivers should use caution on wet roads tonight and keep an eye on changing conditions, particularly in low-lying areas prone to ponding.
The storm threat fades by Wednesday morning, but forecasters expect warmer, mostly dry afternoons to close out the week.
