Charleston, SC – The National Weather Service in Charleston reports that Tuesday, November 11, 2025, was one for the record books as multiple record lows were broken or tied across the Lowcountry and southeast Georgia.
At North Charleston (KCHS), the temperature fell to 29°F, tying the previous record low from 1943, while also setting a new record low maximum of 49°F, surpassing the old mark of 54°F from 1968.
In Savannah, Georgia (KSAV), the mercury dropped to 28°F, breaking a long-standing record of 31°F, also set in 1968. Meanwhile, Downtown Charleston (KCXM) recorded a low of 32°F, tying its 1913 record.
Meteorologists say the early-season cold snap was driven by a surge of Arctic air behind a strong cold front, which dropped temperatures across much of the Southeast well below average.
Conditions are expected to moderate later this week, with daytime highs gradually rebounding into the upper 60s and 70s by the weekend.
