South Carolina – The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has issued a critical weather update for South Carolina on Wednesday, warning of severe thunderstorms and potentially dangerous heat. The state is expected to experience scattered thunderstorms throughout the day, with conditions highly favorable for the storms to organize into damaging clusters, similar to the weather observed on Tuesday.
According to the weather service, these storms could bring severe winds, potentially leading to tree and power line damage across the region. The severe wind risk is expected to persist through 7 a.m. on Thursday, with the highest threat levels covering much of the Piedmont region.
In addition to the storm threat, South Carolina is also under a heat advisory. The heat index is projected to soar between 100 and 105 degrees across much of the state, particularly in the Piedmont area. The combination of high heat and humidity could result in heat-related illnesses, especially for those spending extended periods outdoors.
