South Carolina – Cool air brushes the Upstate early, but it won’t last. Sunshine pours in quickly, and by late morning jackets are shed as temperatures surge toward the low 70s across Spartanburg and surrounding counties.

According to the National Weather Service, a warm southwest flow takes hold through the day, pushing highs near 72 degrees. Winds increase this afternoon, with occasional gusts over 20 mph. It feels more like late March than February, a sharp contrast to recent mornings near freezing.

Clouds increase tonight, holding temperatures unusually mild. Lows only slip into the mid-50s, setting the stage for a quick-moving system on Wednesday. Rain develops early, mainly before mid-morning. Roads like I-85 and Highway 29 may turn slick during the commute, though rainfall totals stay light.

By late Wednesday morning, rain tapers off. Skies clear gradually, but winds turn brisk. Gusts approach 20 mph, drying pavement but adding a cooler edge to the air. Highs still reach the mid-60s before temperatures slide Wednesday night.

Thursday delivers calmer weather and bright sunshine. Highs hover near 60, closer to seasonal norms. Friday and Saturday continue the cooling trend. Afternoon temperatures settle into the mid-50s, with clouds increasing by Saturday. Rain chances rise late Saturday night into Sunday, signaling a more unsettled pattern.

Despite the near-term cool-down, larger signals point warmer again. NOAA’s 6–10 day outlook favors above-normal temperatures across the Southeast into late February. That suggests another spring tease could arrive early next week.

For now, enjoy today’s warmth, secure loose items in gusty winds, and plan for wet roads Wednesday morning. Noticing the big temperature swings this February? Share what it feels like in your neighborhood.
