Charleston, SC – Tropical Depression Nine (TD9) is forecast to remain offshore the Southeast coastline, but South Carolina residents may still see significant impacts today and into the week.

According to the US National Weather Service Charleston, the system is not expected to make landfall in the state. However, forecasters warn that heavy rainfall, gusty winds, and hazardous marine conditions are likely to affect coastal and inland communities.

Heavy rainfall is possible mainly along and east of Interstate 95 and in the Charleston Tri-County area, raising concerns about flash flooding. Tropical storm-force winds remain a possibility near the shoreline and across Atlantic waters, although meteorologists note that wind threat trends are decreasing.

The storm is also expected to generate prolonged coastal flooding threats, dangerous surf, and rip currents, posing risks to beachgoers and boaters. Waterspouts could also develop over Atlantic waters.

The National Weather Service urges residents and visitors to monitor local forecasts, avoid swimming in rough surf, and prepare for potential flooding in low-lying areas.
