Columbia, South Carolina – Warm, summerlike temperatures in the 80s will hold across South Carolina through Sunday, but a passing cold front will bring rain and a noticeable cooldown just in time for the start of the workweek.

According to the National Weather Service in Columbia, above-normal temperatures will continue through the weekend, with highs reaching the low to mid-80s across the Midlands and Central Savannah River Area. Rain chances increase Sunday as the front moves through, offering the best opportunity for widespread showers.

Columbia, Aiken, and Sumter could see periods of rain Sunday afternoon into the evening, though rainfall totals are not expected to cause flooding issues. Roads may become slick during heavier showers, especially along I-20 and I-26 corridors.

Behind the front, temperatures will drop quickly. Highs fall into the low 70s Monday and dip into the upper 60s by Tuesday and Wednesday, bringing a return to more seasonable conditions.

Residents should plan for changing conditions Sunday, keeping rain gear handy and allowing extra travel time. Additional updates may follow if rain coverage or timing shifts.
