Columbia, South Carolina – South Carolina will see a quiet and seasonably cool start to the workweek, with sunshine dominating Monday before a gradual warming trend and increasing clouds signal a pattern change by midweek.
According to the National Weather Service in Columbia, high pressure will remain in control today, bringing mostly sunny skies and cool conditions across central and eastern South Carolina. Highs will reach the lower 50s, with overnight lows dipping into the upper 20s, allowing for a chilly start Monday morning.
Tuesday will turn noticeably warmer as winds shift southerly ahead of an approaching cold front. High temperatures are expected to climb into the upper 50s to near 60 degrees across much of the Midlands and CSRA, including Columbia and Augusta. Skies will remain mostly sunny through the day before clouds increase Tuesday night.
By Wednesday, conditions turn more unsettled as the cold front approaches from the west. Cloud cover will increase, and a few scattered showers are possible, mainly closer to the coast and during the latter half of the day into Wednesday night. Rain chances remain limited, and widespread rainfall is not expected at this time.
High temperatures Wednesday will still reach the mid to upper 50s, but cooler air will begin filtering in behind the front Wednesday night into Thursday. No winter weather impacts are anticipated, and precipitation is expected to remain in the form of rain for all areas.
Travel impacts are not expected, though motorists should remain alert for wet roads if showers develop midweek. Residents are encouraged to enjoy the dry and mild conditions early in the week and stay updated as the cold front approaches.
Forecast confidence is high for quiet weather through Tuesday, with continued monitoring needed for the timing and coverage of midweek showers. Additional updates will be issued as the front moves closer to South Carolina.
