Greenville, South Carolina – Isolated severe thunderstorms could develop across the Carolinas this afternoon and evening, bringing the risk of damaging wind gusts and large hail from Asheville to Rock Hill.

According to the National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg, areas across western North Carolina and the Upstate of South Carolina remain under a marginal risk for severe storms through late Wednesday. Storms are expected to form between 2 p.m. and 9 p.m., with localized threats concentrated near Greenville, Spartanburg, and the I-85 corridor. Highs will range from the upper 70s to low 80s east of the mountains, with cooler temperatures—mid-60s to upper 70s—across the mountains.

The main hazards include brief strong winds capable of knocking down tree limbs and isolated hail reports, especially in counties like Anderson, Toccoa, and Hickory. Drivers are urged to slow down during heavy downpours, and residents should secure outdoor items that could blow away in strong winds.

This marks the final round of storms before drier air moves in on Thursday. More updates are expected if conditions worsen or new warnings are issued.
