Spring storms will continue to batter Spartanburg and much of Upstate South Carolina through Tuesday afternoon, raising the risk of localized flooding. According to the National Weather Service, a prolonged period of heavy rainfall is expected to impact the region tonight and into the early hours of Tuesday, with the possibility of isolated flooding. Roads in Spartanburg, Greenville, and surrounding counties may become slippery, especially in low-lying areas.

The storm system is forecast to bring up to 2 inches of rain in some areas, creating a nuisance for drivers on already wet roads. The NWS has issued a hazardous weather outlook through Tuesday afternoon, noting that the heaviest rainfall is expected to continue into Monday evening, tapering off late Tuesday morning.

Local residents should prepare for potential flash flooding along the Saluda and Tyger rivers and use caution on roadways, especially in flood-prone areas. Areas near Interstate 85 and U.S. Route 176 could experience challenging driving conditions, including slick spots and standing water. Public safety officials recommend staying off the roads if possible, particularly during the heaviest rainfall.

In addition to the rain, the storm system could also trigger isolated, weak tornadoes in Spartanburg County and neighboring regions on Monday afternoon and evening. While the risk is low, authorities urge everyone to stay aware of weather alerts.

As conditions improve by Wednesday, temperatures are expected to climb into the mid-80s, with mostly sunny skies returning to the area.
